ANIMAL ABUSE MUST HAVE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES

What is happening to animals in Arizona is unacceptable. Watching an animal be harmed, abused, neglected, or killed is beyond infuriating. Our laws and enforcement must reflect the seriousness of these acts. People who intentionally abuse or brutally harm animals should not be able to walk away with what amounts to a slap on the wrist. As Governor, I will push for stronger protections for animals, meaningful penalties for serious and repeat offenders, better enforcement of our animal-cruelty laws, and accountability that matches the severity of the crime. Animals cannot speak for themselves. We have a responsibility to protect them. Arizona can—and must—do better.
