Cost of Living
Arizona’s cost of living and inflation rates remain above national targets, making it increasingly difficult for families to afford housing, groceries, transportation, and other necessities. As Governor, I will address affordability by tackling its root causes. Arizona’s rapid growth, combined with water shortages, drought conditions, and housing supply constraints, has driven costs higher. By strengthening water security, improving school funding, reforming government agencies, and reducing fraud and waste, we can create long-term affordability for residents.
My administration will work to lower utility costs, reduce inflationary pressures, increase wages, and expand opportunities for Arizonans to live within their means without needing multiple jobs. I will pursue stronger oversight of fuel pricing, expand rebate programs for teachers, first responders, public servants, farmers market vendors and shoppers, and incentivize water-efficient landscaping. I will promote affordable housing through adaptive reuse of vacant buildings, strengthen homelessness services, explore universal childcare options, and evaluate data center tax revenues to support affordability initiatives and public education.
Water, Construction, Cost of Living
As a candidate for Arizona Governor, I will ensure that responsible construction and development can continue throughout our state while protecting our long-term water future. Arizona needs more housing to reduce the cost of living, improve affordability, and create opportunities for families, workers, and future generations. We cannot solve our housing crisis without building more homes, but we also cannot ignore the importance of water sustainability and conservation.
Water and construction go hand in hand. My administration will support policies that expand housing while investing in innovative water conservation, infrastructure improvements, and long-term resource management. We must balance growth with responsibility, ensuring Arizona remains a place where people can afford to live, businesses can thrive, and communities can continue to grow. By addressing both housing supply and water security together, we can build a stronger, more affordable, and more sustainable Arizona for everyone.
Water & Cost of Living
Arizona's growth has outpaced its ability to meet the needs of its residents. Housing costs, rent, and the overall cost of living have risen significantly, making affordability a major concern for many families. At the same time, Arizona faces long-term water challenges tied to the Colorado River system, declining reservoir levels, and continued development in a desert environment.
Critics argue that current state leadership has failed to adequately address these issues and that Arizona cannot continue growing under the same model of rapid expansion without stronger planning and infrastructure investment. They contend that the state needs a long-term strategy focused on affordable housing, sustainable water management, responsible development, and ensuring that large-scale projects and new growth pay for the resources they consume.
Without meaningful reforms, opponents believe Arizona risks worsening affordability problems, increasing pressure on limited water supplies, and reducing the quality of life for current and future residents.
