AZ Education System and Funding

As a candidate for Governor of Arizona, I will work to revamp Arizona’s education funding system to ensure taxpayer dollars are used responsibly and effectively. My administration will strengthen oversight, increase transparency, and implement regular audits to identify and prevent fraud, waste, and misuse of education funds. Every dollar allocated to education should directly support students, teachers, and classroom success. By holding government accountable and ensuring funding reaches its intended purpose, we can restore public trust, improve educational outcomes, and make sure Arizona’s investment in education truly benefits our children and communities.

ESA Program in Arizona!

As a candidate for Governor of Arizona, I support protecting school choice while also addressing the broader challenges facing our education system. The ESA program shows its a safe program, costs less tax payer money, and has more oversight than other choices.

School Choice - Not Safe with Katie Hobbs & Kris Mayes

School & Education

As Governor, I will strengthen Arizona’s education system by supporting both public schools and school choice while ensuring accountability for every taxpayer dollar. I will audit public, charter, private, and ESA-funded programs to identify fraud, waste, and inefficiencies while preserving educational options for families.

All schools receiving public funds will be required to provide transparent financial reporting, protect student privacy, and demonstrate measurable educational outcomes. I will ensure funding follows students as they move between educational programs, review administrative and teacher compensation, and evaluate school funding formulas to prioritize classroom resources.

I will also reform Results-Based Funding to better support disadvantaged schools and ensure public education dollars are used effectively, transparently, and responsibly.

Arizona Education System

As a candidate for Governor of Arizona, I will prioritize accountability, transparency, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars in education. Arizona students deserve well-funded schools, but taxpayers also deserve confidence that education funding is being spent effectively and honestly. I will strengthen oversight measures, increase financial transparency, and implement regular audits to identify and eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse. My goal is to ensure that every education dollar reaches students, teachers, and classrooms where it can have the greatest impact. By improving accountability and making spending information accessible to the public, we can build trust in our education system while ensuring resources are used efficiently to improve student outcomes and support Arizona's future workforce.

Arizona Schools Need REFORM

As a candidate for Governor of Arizona, I will order a comprehensive audit and reform of Arizona’s education funding system to ensure taxpayer dollars are being spent as intended and delivering results for students. Parents, teachers, and taxpayers deserve full transparency on where education funding is going and how it is being used. My administration will conduct an independent review of education spending at all levels, identify waste, fraud, and inefficiencies, and make funding data accessible to the public. The goal is to ensure resources are reaching classrooms, supporting student achievement, and providing value to taxpayers. Every education dollar should be accounted for, transparent, and focused on improving outcomes for Arizona students.

Arizona School Choice Protected

As a candidate for Governor of Arizona, I want every family to feel confident that their children's education is protected and that parents retain the freedom to choose the educational path that best meets their needs. I support educational choice while also ensuring strong accountability for taxpayer-funded education programs. My administration will increase transparency and oversight of education spending so families can see how public funds are being used and whether they are improving student outcomes. Government must be accountable for every education dollar it receives, ensuring funding reaches students, supports teachers, and strengthens educational opportunities. By protecting parental choice and demanding fiscal responsibility, we can build a stronger education system that serves Arizona families and prepares students for success.

Fighting Corruption, Protecting Taxpayer Dollars & Strengthening Education

Teri Ann Hourihan for AZ GOVERNOR. As Governor of Arizona, I will work to root out corruption in state government by reforming agencies, oversight, and ensuring fraud cannot occur because of accountability and checks and balances in place. In the Legislature, I will bring transparency to the public by shining a light on waste, misconduct, and policies that are not serving Arizonans. Government should never be afraid of public scrutiny or public debate. When it comes to education, I believe the conversation has been clouded by misinformation. In my view, the ESA and school voucher system is not the core problem. The real question is what happens to education funding after it reaches the system and whether those dollars are being used effectively to improve student outcomes. I will pursue independent audits, greater transparency, and stronger accountability measures to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent where they belong—educating Arizona’s children. Arizonans deserve honest answers, responsible stewardship of public funds, and a government that works for them.

AZ PARENTS DESERVE TO HAVE FULL RIGHTS OF THEIR CHILDREN

Teri Ann Hourihan for AZ Governor. SB 1002 passed both the Arizona House and Senate that would have ensured parents are informed if their child is being called a different name or pronouns at school, yet it was vetoed by Governor Katie Hobbs. My question is: Why? As parents, we play a critical role in our children’s lives. If my child is experiencing an identity shift, I want to know so I can support, guide, and love them. I do not want a situation where my child is one person at home and another at school without my knowledge. As a mental health professional who has worked with LGBTQ youth for many years, I know that family support is one of the strongest predictors of positive outcomes. Parents cannot provide that support if they are kept in the dark. Many Arizona parents feel they are being pushed out of important decisions involving their own children. This is one reason why trust in our public education system continues to decline. I also have concerns about policies that make it more difficult for parents to access information regarding certain aspects of their children’s care and treatment. Parents should be partners, not bystanders, in decisions affecting their children. Reasonable people can disagree on policy, but I believe parents deserve transparency and involvement in their children’s lives. As Governor, I will prioritize parental rights, transparency, and family involvement while ensuring every child is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

Reforming Arizona's Education System

Teri Ann Hourihan for AZGovernor. Arizona’s education system has been infiltrated by fraud, waste, and abuse for far too long. Instead of acknowledging these problems and fixing them, too many leaders in the highest positions continue to tell Arizonans everything is fine. It isn’t. The very institutions that are supposed to prepare our children for success are too often failing them. Arizona deserves an education system that helps students soar—not one that leaves families, teachers, and taxpayers drowning in bureaucracy and mismanagement. As Governor, I will order comprehensive audits of every education program to identify fraud, waste, and abuse, stop the misuse of taxpayer dollars, and hold those responsible accountable. Our children deserve excellence, our teachers deserve support, and taxpayers deserve transparency.
