AZ Education System and Funding
As a candidate for Governor of Arizona, I will work to revamp Arizona’s education funding system to ensure taxpayer dollars are used responsibly and effectively. My administration will strengthen oversight, increase transparency, and implement regular audits to identify and prevent fraud, waste, and misuse of education funds. Every dollar allocated to education should directly support students, teachers, and classroom success. By holding government accountable and ensuring funding reaches its intended purpose, we can restore public trust, improve educational outcomes, and make sure Arizona’s investment in education truly benefits our children and communities.
As a candidate for Governor of Arizona, I support protecting school choice while also addressing the broader challenges facing our education system. The ESA program shows its a safe program, costs less tax payer money, and has more oversight than other choices.
School Choice - Not Safe with Katie Hobbs & Kris Mayes
Governor Katie Hobbs has been a critic of Arizona's universal ESA expansion, primarily arguing that the program's rapid growth has increased state spending and contributed to budget pressures. She has supported efforts to increase oversight and accountability and has proposed limiting or modifying aspects of the program.
Attorney General Kris Mayes has investigated ESA administration and sought stricter interpretations of program rules. Her office issued guidance that would have required stronger curriculum connections for some ESA purchases, which critics argued would make it harder for homeschooling families to use ESA funds for educational materials.
School & Education
As Governor, I will strengthen Arizona’s education system by supporting both public schools and school choice while ensuring accountability for every taxpayer dollar. I will audit public, charter, private, and ESA-funded programs to identify fraud, waste, and inefficiencies while preserving educational options for families.
All schools receiving public funds will be required to provide transparent financial reporting, protect student privacy, and demonstrate measurable educational outcomes. I will ensure funding follows students as they move between educational programs, review administrative and teacher compensation, and evaluate school funding formulas to prioritize classroom resources.
I will also reform Results-Based Funding to better support disadvantaged schools and ensure public education dollars are used effectively, transparently, and responsibly.
